When I Build My Masterpiece

by TheRapture03   Apr 29, 2009

The road is long and the sun is hot
The summer asphalt still is steaming
I open my door and what I got
Is a message still gleaming

It's a message from a lover
One I saw not too long ago
A message from another
Another girl I wanna know

I've got my pen and my paper, and my paint, still every drop
But when I build my masterpiece, you'll be nowhere near the top

While the summer still burns me
I wanna get all that I can
And I don't want you to know
That I've been her man

While I walk along my lonely street
I know that my mind is mistaken
While I walk along this lonely street
My heart has been awakened

I've got my pen and my paper, and my paint, still every drop
But when I build my masterpiece, you'll be nowhere near the top
I've got my head buried in my pocket, and you make my heart stop
And though I paint my masterpiece, you are nowhere near the top

The summer night is coming down
The cool wind in my hair
I know you don't know I'm with her
I don't want you to think I care

I've got my pen and my paper, and my paint, still every drop
But when I build my masterpiece, you'll be nowhere near the top
I've got my pen and my paper, and your heart is on the clock
But when I build my masterpiece, I hope you're nowhere near the top

An enjoyable read that as Sourav said is similar to a song, good rhythm and wording.

I feel this sounds more like song. It's like lyric. Ami I wrong? Nice reading!

This was a very interesting poem that I found really interesting. The flow of the poem was good and so was the rhyme. The emotion in the poem was really good as well. So keep on writing and keep up the good work.
