If I Told You It Was Over...

by Polaroid   May 6, 2009

Am I hurting you by saying I love you?
Should I lie and say we're done?
Will pushing you away make you move on
So that you'll find happiness amid misery

Did I make a mistake when I kissed you
That afternoon under the sun
In the long run am I digging into you deeper
The pain that aches and will never be gone

I feel so far away from everything I've had
Alone in a lone sheltered harbor
Without you, I'm lost, missing at home
Regretting the road not taken

People keep getting my hopes up
Lifting my spirits then making them crash down
People keep turning out wrong
not the ones I trusted them to be

If I told you it was over
Would you see right through my lie?
And if I told you I loved you,
would you smile through the pain?

I don't want to lose someone like you
But you mean too much to me
Maybe if you knew what was really going on
You'd understand what I'm going to say next

I want you to be happy, I want you to move on
I can't keep this up, it's time to let go
If you've been hurting as much as me
The only good thing to say is we're through

(so that I can stop hurting you
by stopping all the love I have for you
we're done, I'm sorry, goodbye almost lover
Don't look for the truth behind my lies)
