Faded

by Aurora   May 6, 2009

She never really had acquaintances.
She was never really dependent.
All she really desired was freedom,
from the ropes from which she was suspended.

She longed to be a single feather,
drifting away on a windy afternoon.
She was jealous of the solitude
of a lone floating balloon.

She gave her condolences to the blades of grass,
for planted they would stay.
Then she said goodbye, outstretched her arms,
and wished to be blown away.

The sky stood witness,
and the trees saw everything.
The wind wouldn't speak a whisper,
and the birds, they would not sing.

Those who saw said she wished so long,
that she herself had God persuaded.
And by the end of that summer's day,
she has simply faded.
