Playing with glass

by Iola   Jun 4, 2009

The fingers on my one hand bleeding
Trembling around a dagger of glass
Tasting the blood of yesterday on my lips
Tossing my hopeless body into green grass

Ten years ago a princess lived within
Today she has turned into a frog
Tasting red wine just makes me nauseous
To see is impossible through dense fog

Taking what I need is no longer an option
Trying to get what I want too much trouble
Toasting to this life is a difficult task
Tripping through the eyes that see double

Tonight I will be fighting my demon
The one who crushes my heart with fear
Trotting alone in my lonely bubble
To scared to hold on to what I hold dear

*This was my favorite stanza. I love the imagery. You have such a lovely way of writing. The words you use have so much power in them. Brillant poem. Nik
