The truth behind these eyes

by Ian   Jun 29, 2009

Tears of hatred swell up inside,
Silently fighting emotions I hide,
Hate and pain, anguish and fear,
Yet you'll never witness one tear.

Straight faced I stand, though Screaming within,
Why try to be perfect when surrounded by sin?
No one can know what I choose not to show,
Faking a smile to keep up the flow.

Look long enough and the truth will come out,
Give it some time and you'll lose any doubt,
These windows to the soul can reveal
How time and secrets make me feel.

Yet no one seems to care at all,
Just turn a shoulder as I fall,
Scrutiny could let you see
That past the mask is really me
