This Thing Beating Inside My Chest

by Countess of Monte Cristo   Jun 30, 2009

Where are you?
Where have you been?
Didn't you tell me
You'd be here through the thick and thin?

Did i show you that i was weak?
And that i couldn't stand alone?
Though my heart is the kindest.
I swear I'll turn it into stone.

Behold, this is my transformation.
Because things never stay the same.
I have already witnessed my breakthrough.
And my depression i overcame.

You see this heart that loved you?
And put you above all the rest?
You have disappointed it too long.
This thing beating inside my chest.

So, tell me where have you been?
When you promised me that through the thick and thin.
That you'll protect me from my fears.
When instead you caused my tears.

Goodbye now.
I truly wish you the best.
But you have disappointed it for too long.
This thing beating inside my chest.

*Sometimes, it is better to let go, than hang on.
