Flying Solo

by Nonz   Jul 8, 2009

Who are you in magnificence, sir?
who are you in downfall or shame?
a jewel enshrouded, perhaps
or a body of scars by name?

your mind is your virtue
as it is your vice
company is pleasurable
yet you alone suffice

your ambiguity bemuses
many a person still
but this is the clarity
you've long tried to fulfill

we do not differ much
sir, you and I
we lead similar worlds
and in parallel lanes we fly

we intersect at a window
as we each pause in flight
to squint and stare across
at each other's plight

mutual understanding
and even similar pace
sir, we are alike
in the issues that we face

sometimes I lack the wisdom
that you surely supply
and though I, too, advise you
in the end, alone we fly.
