What Is Love

by groovydude   Jul 8, 2009

What is Love
I thought I knew
does anyone know
Do you

when my heart beats fast
And my dreams are filled
when I break in cold sweats
and loneliness is killed

when I smile for no reason
as I think of her face
this is what thought love was
am I in the wrong place

when she leaves
and I am empty once more
as I look down
to see my heart on the floor

I had such peace
and beauty inside
then she said goodbye
and there I just cried

I think that love
is a found happiness for two
it feels like angels in the clouds
and walking on sand with no shoe

when you find this joy
embrace what you feel
before something goes wrong
and she turns cold as steel

so for those who seek love
and for those who have found
keep your heart open
and your feet on the ground

love yourself first, the rest will come

There first thing that went through my head was "Baby don't hurt me, dont hurt me no more" form the song titled What Is Love?

This is quite an exceptional piece. I can imagine reading this poem out in a poetry session. It engulfs you with its direction and description on the authors thoughts and feelings on love and then gently bringing the poem to the end upon speaking advice on what to do if you have/want love.

This is a good read 5/5.
