Instinct

by girlnextdoor   Jul 15, 2009

The canine's teeth sank
into the florescent tennis ball
and the once wild beast
became a puppy

My once open heart
was ripped apart
and my very soul
became dependent
But the world looked on
seeing something nostalgic
in it all, yet
you had cheated me of my destiny

You held me back
replaced my once wild dreams
with a sedated reality
and the sign began to read:

BEWARE OF DOG

because all of my instincts said
bite the hand that feeds
you can survive on your own
