Masquerade

by Audrey Miller   Jul 19, 2009

Somehow we all know,
Just how the story goes,
About a girl,
Born perfect to this world.
And how she changed,
Is unknown to them!
Because they think her to be
What she wants them to see.
Life is a party,
She can't evade,
So she dresses up for the

Masquerade!
Masquerade,
The shadows cascade
Over her pretty face,
Masquerade!
Masquerade,
Renewing lies,
That had begun to fade.

Every time,
She says a lie,
A part of her,
Slowly dies.
And every night,
She starts to cry,
And in the morning
She heaves a sigh
And starts again,
All over again,
Until her happy parade,
Turns into a

Masquerade!
Masquerade,
The shadows cascade
Over her pretty face,
Masquerade!
Masquerade,
Renewing lies,
That had begun to fade.

She's got no one, no one, no one,
Who understands!
She's got no one, no one, no one,
Who understands!
She's got no one, no one, no one,
Who understands!

Cause she's living in a
Masquerade!
Masquerade,
Why can't she learn,
To take off her face?
Oh masquerade!
Masquerade,
The clock strikes 12,
And her mask starts to fade
In the middle of a
Masquerade!
Masquerade,
She gets so scared,
She runs away,
Because she doesn't think that they can
Handle what's beneath the
Masquerade.
