The Valley Wind

by REX   Jul 27, 2009

I lay awake,
In the dark,
Listening to the thumping of my heart.
Outside,
In a world that lays still,
The leaves dancing to the songs of the night.

The wind that rips,
And sweeps the valley floor,
Moving my garden gate,
And banging at my kitchen door,
But I'm still awake, In the dark and all alone,
Listening to the ringing of next door's phone.

I long for sleep,
For the leaves to lay still,
To stop whistling in the dark of the night.
My eyes are heavy,
Clouds across my eyes,
The comes sleep!
A delight and a surprise!

GOOD NIGHT WORLD!
