Squeezing out a poem about the cat

by fanniesson   Aug 10, 2009

She stays by me, and I admit
I talk to her,
but I don't pick her up,
hug and pet her the way
the wife does.
I'm civil towards her,
the way I was with
the mother-in-law!
Who towards the end of her
miserable existence,
I also started to show a liking for.
In poems that is!

Guess my muse thought it would be funny
to write something nice about someone I hated,

like the wife's cat now .

Sitting close enough to kick
but instead I ask her if she misses her mommy
and then try to squeeze this poem out about it.
