She Can't Stay

by Soulful Ensemble   Aug 19, 2009

She said, "darling, hold on"
I said, "babe, thats alright"
She did her hair into a bun
And asked if it was done right.

I kissed her lips slowly
Her hair was out of my way,
I looked at her knowing
That she just couldn't stay.

I kissed her to the door
Just to let her know better
That I wanted her more
And that I'd write her a letter.

She couldn't just leave;
It can't be done easy.
Our kisses wont cease
And my grip wont stop squeezing.

I pull her close to me
And hold her every which way
She says," I have to go baby"
I say," why don't you stay?"

I tell her I've been yearning
To kiss her tender lips all day;
But time hasn't been turning
So privacy can come into play.

She kisses full of compassion;
I move my face with hers'
To the rythmn of our passion
And I feel waves inside me spur.

I'm consumed by her soul
And feel we are one.
I say, " why must you go?"
"When we've only just begun."

She insists that its time
And says she has to go--
"But I'll see you soon, its fine"
"So don't you feel low."

I want her now more and more
Than I've ever desired
But she's gone through the door
For now our time has expired.

I still feel her nose in place
As it presses on mine when we kiss
I feel it on the side of my face
And say, "It's only you I could miss"
"And still feel like I'm living in bliss."

And she's gone, but I feel her;
Our connection's so strong
And though her image can blurr
These feelings belong.
