The Soldier

by aubreigh   Aug 23, 2009

Scared as he was
he could not imagine
the horror of his
brothers cold and
limp body afloat on
the river known as
"Sea of the fallen"

the battle began in
seconds. he panicked
and began to close
his eyes tight and
began to shoot.

the soldiers around him
fell hard to the ground.
blood splattered at his
still and motionless
porcelain face. smoke
was flooding the air
around him.

something flew into his
stomach with stinging
force. shock was flooding his
mind. pictures of his mother,♥
standing at a rose bush, holding
out her hand. she began singing his lullaby
the only song that helped him
sleep.

"you'rere my sunshine, my only sunshine
you make me happy, when skies are gray..."

it worked this time.
