Two Halves of a Broken Whole

by Never Shall I Break   Aug 25, 2009

His heart beats fast
His head feels light
He blackens out
He tries to fight

He has to give in
Hes going down
He tries to scream
He makes no sound

His pen is mightier then his sword
But this time the pen is too sharp
He used his words far too much
He punctured her heart

Trying to let her down easy
He drops her from a cliff
Hoping there is a cushion
Something he might have missed

And though she landed so long ago
She still seems to fall
Bringing him down with her
Death will come to all

Her piercing eyes begin to water
As he speaks those final words
Things he should have said so long ago
Things she should have heard

And as these words sink in
The pain, it takes hold
He wishes he could undo it
But the world is just so cold

He saw her pain
And it tugged at his soul
Not knowing if he was right
Weather his decision was whole

Petal by petal
All the flowers have died
No matter how many he picks
They don't help him decide

But there's no time left
It's too much to bear
The strain on his heart
It doesn't seem fair

The time is passing
His heart grows weak
He's falling down
He's on his knees

And right then he knows
He knows what's inside
But death is creeping
There's nowhere to hide

She stands there before him
Excruciatingly gorgeous
Staring
He can't take much more of this

He wants her to save him
He reaches for her hand
But she feels so cold
She doesn't understand

So what does she choose?
Vengeance or heart
When he was the one
Who tore her apart?

She hesitates briefly
Walking down memory lane
She knows what it's like
She feels his pain

Her heart beats fast
Her head feels light
She blackens out
He gives up the fight
She closes her eyes
