Hope

by Kat   Sep 3, 2009

Dearest hope you flee at every opportunity,

Leaving me naught but empty.

Oh I do cry for you my sweet,

With an agony so many meet.

The days go by, swollen with time.

I find hope, you're no longer mine.

Too fast you've gone from me.

And the tears become not nearly enough to fill the
sea.

It is what I have lost which bears this pain so
deep.

Imbedded into my flesh like a dreamers sleep.

Be wary the nadir of despair.

Quickly she comes, and seems so fair.

Ah but ignorance is not bliss.

In her case please do not miss,

Vultures are her companions, your naivety her
weapon.

So you sulk in your self-pity, unaware you've kept
on.

Here now they circle, easing down with such care.

Oh you won't notice tis too much to bear.

But hope has fled, and despair fits so nicely.

What happened to days past, we had been so feisty.

Wait, please love, do not close your eyes.

Hope is waiting, beckoning with soft cries.
