You're Safe Now

by Silent Screams   Sep 29, 2009

I'm standing here upon the threshold of my mind,
Knowing that it is you I'm trying to find.
Your dark, chocolate skin, which makes me dance,
The strong arms that hold me, and eyes putting me in a trance.
You're the strength I wasn't able to find,
The courage which you can only define.
You don't appear afraid of anything at all,
This is something I envy when I fall.
There's the problem, I fell from grace,
Which is why we're here in this lonely place.

I see you wandering, alone, by yourself,
And yet, through your mask, you seek for help.
You look lost, don't you see me?
I'm standing here, watching you look to be free.
I want to help you, but my voice is quickly going,
As I stand here, my heart knowing,
That you have confusion laced,
Within your head as you turn to see my face.
What could we both be doing here?
Away from everyone, but close to each other, my dear?
I love you so much, but sometimes you pull away
And I don't want to see you walk alone any day.
You're so sweet, someone I cherish,
And to me, the one thing to my heart, so precious.

Alas, again, I'm able to move,
As I come forth, my mind finally soothed.
You turn around, facing me,
As your eyes grow wide at what you see.
I hold out my hands, arms outstretched,
As I inhale a deep, calming breath.
I exhale as I stand and wait,
Knowing the gesture can be great.
As you walk over, I embrace you tight,
Holding onto you with all of my might.
It was then, in that moment, that I realized,
The feelings which blossomed deep inside.
They have become stronger than ever before,
As they unlock themselves, free from the door.
I feel so small when you're nowhere to be found
And stronger when you're here and around.
And silently you embrace me, emotions at their peak,
As I tilt my head back, parting my lips, ready to speak.

"Calm yourself, my love, my dear,
It is dark, but I am here.
Don't worry about where we are
Or if we got here by foot or car.
For we are together, despite what they say,
And I cherish every second, come what may.
We're both hurting, both in pain,
With nothing more than our love to gain.
I can see you're hurting and we're both stressed,
So here is something I want to address.
For it's something I have admired
And something I soon learned to desire.

Let runaway, away from the lies,
No longer truth, nothing more to hide.
I want to be with you, no matter what it takes,
Because I'm strong with you, unable to break.
Just come with me, forget this life,
For all it does is cause us strife.
We can go anywhere, no where's too far,
But first, unlock your heart, and drop your guard.
Don't leave me here all alone tonight,
And please lay with me until the morning's light."

My whispers echo and are true,
For they're telling how I love you.
I know I haven't been too open,
Because I'm afraid of being broken.
For the last time I held one so tight,
They had left me alone, nothing right.
And as a tear rolls down my face,
You kiss my lips, yours filled with grace.
You pull back, a look in your eyes,
And I feel the tears well ready to cry.
And you lean forward, words on your lips,
As you hold me tight by the hips.
I feel safe, within your arms
As though nothing on earth can cause me harm.

"Forget this life? Come with you?
Oh how I wish it were true."

I place my head against your chest,
Feeling as though the pain is at rest.
Your heart beat races, the scene changes.
As it turns green, far is the range.
From the ocean to the fields, beauty is at its high,
And nothing around us seems to want to die.
I smile softly, embraced by you,
And I know these feelings are true.
So as we sit, embraces like vice,
I look around our paradise.
I know you're afraid it'll be all for naught,
But it's for this paradise that we've fought.
Leaving your grasp I stand seeing our lake,
Holding out my hand for you to take.

"I've dreamt of this for such a long time,
I never truly believed it could be mine.
I love you so much, it's truly insane,
That through this, there's more love to gain.
I know you're afraid as am I,
But I'm willing to give it a try.
I'll hold your hand through thick and thin
Through whether or not you lose or win.
So put those insecurities from your mind,
And at this moment, the truth, you must find.
You're here with me, don't question how,
Don't look back, because you're safe now."
