Tearing Me At The Seams

I didn't realize that life could have such a twist.
Nor would I ever have imagined that I'd write upon my wrists.
But when this world begins to turn, it leaves you behind.
And there you stand, alone, with thoughts in your mind.
So here I stand, thinking my life away.
Knowing that my goals and efforts have all gone astray.
Looking into the mirror, there stands a girl.
Who never once imagined this from her world.
This girl is so fragile, her soul is so weak.
Her pain is growing, her tears, they leak.

Her mind is twisted, yet strangely pure.
And of herself, she never seems too sure.
Her heart is cracking, breaking, once again.
Knowing that she has never made that friend.
The one who looks and is identical to her.
The twin she sees in the mirror, yet not so pure.
And there goes society, destroying all her dreams.
Crushing her, breaking her, tearing her at the seams.

There she lays, upon a bed a night.
And deep within her chest, an inevitable fight.
For it wasn't her fault that he left her there.
It was his own decision which causes the tear.
The tear which has started upon her arms,
Yet Not too deeply to cause fatal harm.
The pain stops her heartache, the blood calms her soul.
And helps her keep the tears hidden, helps regain her control.
The control in which she never truly had.
Which has left her empty, cold and sad.

She stares out the window, ignoring the voice within.
For she knows that the wounds upon her arm are sins.
Yet it doesn't stop her, the pain had for a moment ceased.
When the blade dug into her arm, slicing the crease.
The crease which had been left from old wounds and pain.
Slicing straight, blood beading,
Pulse pounding, Heart beating.
And there she sits, wondering why she can't halt,
The pain which cements itself upon her heart.

This girl walks through life wasting her days.
Knowing that its her own stupidity that hurts her in such a way.
For she was the idiot to cause such terrible harms,
To those she loves and to her opwn self, her own arms.
And once more she looks into the glass,
Seeing herself staring back at her at last.
And there she stands as her body shakes.
Knowing its a black hole in her chest that the pain creates.
And there in the mirror, stands the twin of that girl.
The one who has felt lonely out in this world.
Standing. Staring. She watches the reflection she sees.
As realization dawns upon her, dawns upon me.
For I haven't lived my life because of my fears.
And all because people hurt me to see my tears.

So, my mind is twisted, yet strangely pure.
And of myself, I never seem sure.
My heart is cracking, breaking, once again.
Knowing that I have never made that friend.
The one who looks and is identical to me.
The twin in the mirror in which I can see.
And there goes society, destroying all my dreams.
Crushing me, breaking me, tearing me at the seams.

    Hello my dear,

I can't believe this poem of yours has been overlooked. It'd clear to see you've thought hard about the layout, so it compliments the theme. Unless I'm wrong, it's about a split personality. The use of a mirror image of you and verses that read in the 1st and second tense.

It's a sad, tortured poem, written with heart and soul, and one I believe others should read.

    Well done and stay strong.
