Last embrace

by Laurenf7   Oct 8, 2009

It was painful watching you suffer
You knew you were going to be missed
Trying to reassure the family
That your presence would still exist.

The hurt was deep inside
Everywhere you felt, an ache
He took you home one day
I thought it was a foolish mistake.

I now understand the reality
You were relieved from the pain
Our last encounter was quick
Since you felt an over-sized strain.

Ticking till the last minute
A smile rested on your face
Small kiss upon your forehead
A simple last embrace.
