Dam it In

by MidniteRain   Oct 19, 2009

You build that wall so high,
Pack the bricks tight around your heart,
So the love you cannot share
Getting trapped in the stale air
Forces that dam apart,
And the loneliness gets to your mind,
The hope of just one happy moment
Will blind your crystal-clear eyes,
And make you ignore your gut feelings,
The little voice in your head
That screams at you to run, and never look back
And the pain it sends you reeling
But is it worth it again,
One moment of false pleasure
For a lifetime of pure pain.
Shift your life you'd never change
To accomodate the phase
Was it worth that brief pause in time
Just to fall so far behind,
When life rushes back,
Like the water from your shattered dam.
But don't wall in your feelings and lock them deep inside,
Or wallow in the pain and swear you'll never love again.
Don't let the sorrow suck you in
Or bring you to the knife's edge,
You only need to look to yourself
For true happiness,
In the end.
