Kicking Stones

by Free Bird   Oct 24, 2009

A young girl
Walks down
A lonely path.
She keeps her
Head down
Kicking stones
Thinking
Of the past.
Replaying
Events & people
Which have
Brought her
On this dark
Road alone.
She continues on
Kicking stones.
Stones of
Broken promises
And forgotten friends
Until suddenly,
She feels
The warmth
Of somone
Holding her hand.
This touch
Is unlike
Any other.
She wants
To let go,
But decides
To hold on
A little longer.
Without letting
The moment
Pass her by,
She finds the
Strength & courage
To look,
And begins
To cry.
Before her
Stands a boy,
With
Eyes full
Of soul.
They seem
To tell
The girl,
Not one
More day
Will she ever
Be alone.
The boy then
Cradles
Her misted
Face.
Kisses
Quivering
Lips
With much
Haste.
An earthquake
Of emotions
Tear through
The girl.
She gives
In to
The boy
Loses
All sense
Of control.
The young
Man
Is taken
By surprise,
As she
Grasps his
Body
And
Rushes
Him in
As if
He were
Dawn's
Morning tide.
A bolt
Of lightning
Seems to
Penetrate
Their bodies,
Shaking
Their hearts
Alive
Bonding them
Together
Till the
End of time.
The
Young boy
And
Girl
Continue
Walking down
The path
Of life,
Hand in hand,
Kicking stones.
