A true hero.

----*this is a poem about a soldier in the Vietnam war*---

He was a husband, a brother, a friend;
a human-being who sacrificed himself
for the lives of others...that night,
he had been killed.

It was he who had the strength,
to hold on that much longer; so
deticated and kind...he was a lover
not a fighter, but he fought for
what he loved. And he chose to take
the bullet.

Shot right through his heart, pierced
his all-bruised skin; how quickly he
fell down...the pulse in his wrist
was no longer there, while his
family could do nothing.

His name shown on the wall,
he deserved to be remembered;
for the moment he was
instantly gone,
he was instantly a hero.
