Naive

by Beth   Jun 15, 2004

I sat on the sidelines and watched you fall.
As you ignored what your brethren say.
You disregarded every heed and call,
You keep everyone but your own feelings at bay.

It was that fateful day when we saw you fail.
As you tripped on the sod, your body pulled by your mistakes.
I'd never seen you run hill or dale,
Though you said you'd sprint for mercy's sake.

You tell us you're not really leaving, and things will be the same.
Then you change your mind; say things will be different, but we'll all stay together.
Yet it is your friends who know the truth, and find it to be a shame.
That you are so Naiveﶥ to believe we can survive this monsoon weather.
