Tire tracks on the road

by Emily   Dec 3, 2009

She was a daddy's girl since birth
She was the only thing his dollars were worth
Mamma's pride and joy since she was brought in the world
So precious, an angel, their beautiful little girl

Where did the years go? They ask every day
Their angel is now 20, ready to find her way
Its been fun, the family of 6 under one roof
She's a grown woman after years of things being childproof

Christmas, birthdays and summer fun
She'll miss them all, but her life has just begun
When she wakes up she'll put her make up on her face
Reminiscing of the days she was learning to tie her shoe lace

And now she's all packed, she throws her suitcases in the car
Promises her parents she'll be back, she doesn't live far
She gets in, anxious, she's ready to go
Her daddy sheds a tear as he sees the tire tracks down the road

I like this. Simple yet it has its own thing.

There is a real nice flow to this poem. Even though the poem is short it covers her lifetime, in a gradual sense. I like this poem alot And plus it reminds of when my sister went away to college.
