A Day at the Mall

by Sw33ti3   Dec 24, 2009

"You're a d-ck!"
says he,
while we laugh,
I disagree.

"Your ego's too big!"
says me,
while I playfully shove,
he smiles.

Oh wow, if only he knew,
that my heart just skipped a beat.
His smile, so warm,
yet cocky and arrogant.

"What shirt should I wear?
Or what looks best on me?
Because I look good in anything!"
he says while he grins.

"Oh please. As if."
I smirk while I choose,
"The shirt to your right,
will make anyone look good."

He smacks me lightly,
and calls me a jerk,
while he tries the shirt on.
I can't help but laugh,

and blush when I see,
how great he looked,
taking my breath away,
along with my heart.

He purchases the shirt,
and we walk around the mall,
talking about everything,
and about nothing at all.

Conversation is easy,
and we make each other laugh,
he makes cheeky comments,
and I smart mouth him back.

Who knew I'd fall so mad for him,
that I lose track of time,
get this feeling in my stomach
of excitement and anxiety.

"What are you looking at?
Is there something on my face?"
I blush and look away,
I reply with, " Yeah...YO FACE!"

He shakes his head and smiles,
and he says, "Jenn, that makes no sense.
I think you need more practice
so you don't sound like an idiot."

I laugh and I agreed,
and he also laughed as well,
his laughter delights me,
knowing I can make him laugh like that.

"Now how is my hair?
Is there any strands astray?
If so can you please fix it?"
He asks me.

I look at him tenderly,
and I play with his hair,
hoping with each touch,
he can sense how much I care.

Oh how I yearn to make him feel
the way he makes me feel.
Of love, of joy, of happiness,
the desire to stop time.

As the day draws to an end,
he turns to face me,
my heart beats faster,
even though I knew what was going to happen.

Reality sets in,
as he turns to look at me,
I look into his eyes
hoping he can see,

my desire to be with him,
to not want this day to end,
but of course that never happens,
and he opens his mouth to say:

"Thanks for hanging out with me,
I had a great time,
you're a really good friend,
we have to do this again soon,

but it's time that I must go,
because I have to meet with her."
I smile and say, "No problem, anytime"
as we hug goodbye,

and as he leaves, I watch,
hoping he'd turn back,
run up to me and say
"Douche, you're the one I want to be with!"

But of course that doesn't happen,
and as he leaves, I watch.
