You promised me Forever

by jocelyn   Jan 24, 2010

We met by coincidence.
In a different state then our own.
Two opposites raged against each other.
Trying to deny the connection.

Until the last day of my trip, the last day we'd ever be in the same room...
He gave me his number.
"I noticed how you're closed off, if you ever want to talk, call me."

That day, marked our relationship.
Late night calls.
Texts that came in anytime from 2pm to 6am.
We talking about everything.

Then I returned to my hometown, and he lived there.
So much had changed.
But when we came face to face,
Our eyes met and we fell hard.

An affair sprang up.
A 16 year old girl with a 19 year old Marine.
I changed.
My soul was healing, slowly but surely.
My smiles were true.
His love saved me from depression.
Mine saved him from destruction.

5 months of merely talking.
1 month together.
Then the end came.
An accident.
Only hours after he'd promised to be mine, forever.
After I'd promised to be his, forever.
He was ripped away.
Taken in a split-second.
Suddenly, our connection was cut,
and my heart was broken.

Now all I have, are memories and dreams.
I love him and I will never love again.
