The tears glistened

by Mr Rhee   Feb 14, 2010

The kiss was wet.
And somehow painful,
like being bitten.
Warm lips.
Sharp teeth.

The hands gripped.
Nails, like talons, dug in
reaching for the heart.
Soft skin.
Cold touch.

The eyes sparkled.
A light from within,
glowing like an evil fire.
Inner light.
Demon sight.

The whispers soothed.
Quiet voices beneath,
like old spirits screaming.
Pillow talk.
Pained cries.

The tears glistened.
Sadness blossoming,
like a blue rose, whithering.
Sweet emotion.
Bleeding heart.

The end came quietly.
Death waltzed in,
shadows with claws.
Life stops.
Love fades.

I loved the imagery in this piece it was very strong and the poem was very unique in the sense it was about love but seemed like death. Only I believe the person is suffering from a broken heart and although they aren't dead they wish they were for the pain is to much to bare. Funny how the most vital organ to our survival is the one that always seems to break the easiest. Excellent job 5/5
