To a boy, I could never love back

by jocelyn   Feb 15, 2010

He watches her walk away
why won't she let him stay?
His love for her doesn't waver
but it takes a hit with each lover.
She says no whenever he asks
and yet she smiles and laughs.
She won't let him get too close
but he can't set her loose.
His head falls and his ego deflates
each time she walks away.
His heart swells and beats again
whenever she comes back.
It's a miserable life
simply waiting for her answer.
She gave it once
but he wants a chance.
He loves her more than she knows
she just has to let him in.
He'll wait for years
watching her break again and again.
Maybe tomorow, she'll say yes.

-------------------------------
To the boy whose love I cannot return.
I'm too damaged to love again.
I'm sorry Ian.
