Reflecting on what's gone

by Chelsey   Feb 16, 2010

Reflecting on what's gone
Has reminded me of what I don't miss
The brokenness, hurt, and anger
That lay behind each kiss

Stains on my pillow from the tears
You'd think could be washed clean
But they're reminders of what I don't miss
Memories that I wish could go unseen

Our song plays from time to time
Sometimes I won't change the radio
I reflect on how you didn't want to dance
I don't miss how I begged for you to do so

Pictures now in boxes
It's sad how the smiles look so fake
Reminiscing of those days is hurtful
I remember handling all I could take

Reflecting on what's gone
Sure, it used to bring tears to my eyes
It's now a reminder of what I don't miss
You're not worth one second of my cries

Chelsey! First of all, I have to say thankzies for the comment you left me XP And now on to your awesome poem...

I love loved how you started this poem too!
    "Reflecting on what's gone
Has reminded me of what I don't miss"
Two lovely lines I loved so much (:

I like how you seemed strong and fearless in facing the trauma love has left you. All so often, we have to go through quite a few people before we actually realise or find what we were looking for. See this as a stepping stone hun, the next one would be better! Reading this somehow injected this sense of bravery in me so I loved this one of yours. Keep writing doll!!!!

So very true. Those who hurt us are not worth our tears. Course at the time we think that life has ended. But in reflecting we see what was there all along ....
    "a reminder of what I don't miss"

    Great read Chels!

I used to think I loved my ex but after finding my fiancee I realized what true love really was. I don't even think about my ex ever she doesn't come into my mind anymore because the memories I made with her don't come close to the memories I have now. I loved the poem it was nice to see that you've moved on from something that once met so much to you, yet made you cry. You know now how much pain you went through but just how much stronger it made you for your next relationship. Great work very real emotions and feelings 5/5 :)
