Dreadful disease.

by A Shame In His Eyes   Feb 18, 2010

It's the way she smiles,
when she says everything will be alright.

it's the way she comforts us,
when we're all falling apart.

we all know this disease is fatal,
we all know that she is sick.

yet, she holds her head high,
you never even see a frown.

she's the strongest of all,
but she's the one in pain.

you don't see a tear fall from her eyes,
she wants everyone to believe she's going to be OK.

she's god's little soldier,
the one who refuses to give up on hope.

she's got a heart of gold,
and love that surrounds everyone.

she has been everyones tower,
now it's our turn to be hers.

this disease is taking over,
a disease without a cure.

on this dreadful day,
we knew our lives would never be the same.

we fake a smile and try to think positive,
but pretending gets too hard.

we all know things could get worse,
and they weren't good to start off with.

but someone tell me how,
how do you have hope?

how do you believe that god does miracles,
when he let it happen in the first place?

yet, through all the tests,
and all the tears.

she still has hope,
that there is nothing to fear.

we knew this disease could take her away,
away from the ones who love her the most.

chemo will make life harder,
and it will bring anger and pain upon us all.

but if there is a god somewhere out there,
then save her.

make the disease go away,
heal her like she believes you will.

because a life without a mother,
isn't a life worth living at all.

-(this poem is about my mom, who we just found out had cancer.)

-bah.
