That Dreadful Word "Goodbye"

by Carmen   Mar 25, 2010

A still silence stretched between me and you.
I had told myself I wouldn't cry.
My heart was like the sky but darker blue.
My lips uttered that dreadful word "goodbye."
We walked our separate roads and I looked back,
Counting your footsteps as you walked away.
A tear slid down my face, leaving a track.
My soul was storming on this sunny day.
It's hard to leave when I love you this much.
My love for you could take me to the moon.
You're not around to give me that head rush.
All I can do is pray I'll see you soon.
I'm all alone as I turn out the light.
I doubt that I'll get any sleep tonight.
