Just Be Real

by Shantel   Apr 8, 2010

How is it that you read me
Like a palm reader reads hands?
No matter how I try to stay closed
You open up who I am.

Whether it's a subliminal message,
Or a few lines of a song,
Somehow you always figure out
Whenever something is wrong.

And even though I pretend
To be tough and emotionless.
Your actions show me that you know me
Better than I know myself.

Although you're nothing I ever wanted
And not what I've been looking for,
I'd never change anything about you
And I don't wanna look anymore.

For some reason you brighten my day
With just your signature smile.
But you keep it and your emotions hidden
Like it isn't worth the time.

You never tell me what you're thinking,
Like you're afraid to open up to me.
But you can't live life always closed;
That's just no way to be.

I can't read your mind;
You'll have to tell me how you feel.
Why leave me confused,
When you can just be real.
