An angel weeps up above
as little ones are lead to certain death
barely holding their final breaths
as ropes decorate delicate necks
little fingers tug and pull
glazed eyes pleading to let go
begging for an escape
thick braids tighten, squeezing
eyes bulging and lungs collapsing
it is far too late
