The Hesitation Between Steps

by Indian Comma Bean   Apr 19, 2010

Tear laden drapery hangs
achromatic, drab bells weep
at heaven's shriek in morning,
candles shiver in the shadow
of somber hearts.

Shooting stars fade in palms
of waning thought.

Lives worn in stone
grasp withered breaths
of paling hue
choking on the final beat
of sultry wing.

Lyrical melody of solemn
cries do revel in red bud's blossom.

Memories, a faded photograph
released beneath the dogwood trees,
trembling fingers brush strokes
of fear from quivering lip,
aged puzzles lie untouched
upon forgiving cheek,
cheek that once felt poetry

echo in physical resonance
of love's tender embrace.
