The Princess of Darkness

by Ares   Apr 20, 2010

Underneath the fading grass and leaves,
lies a poor soul taken from the world.
gusts of wind echo its moans and carries its screams,
until they finally reach the one meant to hear.

broken through the years she erodes and in withering silence and unbroken chains of thought, she ponder what life now has in store..

Utter solitude residing quietly in her home,
and under rock and under tree,
she searches to find what can break a heart turned stone,
for nothing now challenges the aching of existence.

mellow light in sharp, glowing pains yet in darkness she wanders the night, looking to find another soul that can take her breath away...

yet in every single soul she agrees to meet,
disappointment pulls through yet again,
and it echoes the sound of violence and broken teeth,
it seems, she must wander the earth alone.

no song, no tune or hymn can turn her life around,
she lost what no one should lose and though it may seem a cruel thing to ask; did she deserve to keep what she loved?

she dreams of play-lands, fairies and of love,
for they were things of great pleasure in youth,
adventures, treasure, kingdoms and all of the above,
now paint a picture most mocking and in spite.

all her life she sacrificed her virtue for a dream of someday waking up believing it to be a life already lived and never again to despair and spend her nights in silent tears and in hellish pain...

she will never be whole again.

I really can relate to that. I feel as if im in that land in which this poem describes. Hopefully one day ill be whole again but until that day ill just wander through the days. Great poem :) <3 BrokenBella aka Joclyn

  • I've been in that land you speak of, I walk it then and now. Beware of grasping for those things of joy and happiness that we think are our savour because it ends up being 10x more evil when they are gone. Just a tip from one that lives among the ash of lives past.
