Miruna: My Peace

by Snowdrop   Apr 27, 2010

I remember the deep blue sky that day,
and how I waited in anticipation for your arrival.
He took you out of his carrier, and then oh my,
you greeted me with a wag of the tail and a lick of your sloppy tongue, quite the startle!

You had the most compassionate brown eyes,
A tail that always wagged and a lovely smile.
You would make people fall in love with you, and strangers would be filled with pleasant cries.
You had a beautiful black, brown and white coat, adorned with a small pink bow for some style.

There was no one who did not love you my angel,
And the way you jumped on people's legs to express your overwhelming love.
I named you Miruna, which was Romanian for 'peace' and 'world' my little marvel.
I wanted you to be the center of my peaceful world, my haven thereof.

I have always wanted a puppy to love and cherish,
And even though my parents had said no I figured they would allow it if I brought you.
My friends all believed so too but in the end, you had to perish.
Why could I not have perished too?

My mother began to yell and scream, she even cried.
Miruna realized that she was the cause of this and let out a little growl, as if to say 'please don't cry!'
My angel had never brought anything but happiness to the world with her plight,
And she could not comprehend what she had done, no matter how she may try.

She was the first love of my life and I hated myself for my selfishness.
Miruna, I know these tears will not make up for what I've done, but they are all I have to give you right now.
Now you must leave me and go to some unknown place as I continue to drown in my sorrow and sadness.
But I know that making me cry is something you'd never allow.

Maybe one day we'll meet again, at a place only the two of us know.
And I hope that it'll be the day you can forgive me and I can finally forgive myself.

And this I dedicate to you Miruna,
my sweet angel of peace.
My one love.
