Bloom

by East Poetry   May 11, 2010

Our stars nearly aligned this week,
almost twirled in unison.
Came closer then they ever have,
to reuniting us again.

Since that hurtful day you left me,
like setting free a bird.
Free to roam and see the world,
with hopes it would return.

It was on that day, I knelt outside,
and for you planted a seed.
An object I could tie to you,
to fulfill a special need.

A need to feel connected,
to your universe adrift.
where every time I glanced at it,
my spirits would uplift.

So, here and there, I'd wait and watch,
Its growing left hints of how you feel.
When you'd call to say you care,
a new leaf would soon appear.

Excited every time I'd see
an inch or two it'd grow.
disappointed that, despite my hope,
a bud would never show.

As time passed on, the leaves would grow,
and sometimes they would die.
but never once a single bud,
to scared to wonder why.

Why lately when you feel so close
as fate brings you near my path.
Should I hold on, or let you go.
when so close within my grasp.

Because deep inside, I know the why,
Why I cant completely let you go.
We have two sons, who have our eyes,
and I miss your honest glow.

This week I felt the cosmos
pull you ever close to me.
Could swear I seen a bird fly by,
Like the bird that I set free.

Tomorrow when I wake up,
in the early morning hour.
I'll walk outside, where I left your seed.

And pray I find a flower.

Oh how sad and beautiful. :( Your words again are so moving.

"This week I felt the cosmos
pull you ever close to me.
Could swear I seen a bird fly by,
Like the bird that I set free."

This stanza is so beautiful. Throughout your poem I could just picture everything, a beautiful landscape.

I like how you used the bud.. and how you wish you can find a flower at the end.

This one was a lovely poem, even though it was about lost love. I really like your love poems, they sound tranquil.

This is my favorite from you so far Randy. You are a fantastic storyteller. Flawless and stunning. I added this poem to favs. I love the way you plant a seed to stay connected. This should have won a contest somewhere..
Yes it is that good. Keep writing exactly like this- you need to feature your best poems...ones like these get lost when you dont feature them
    enjoyed to the max!

A truly excellent and moving poem of want and lost love.
Been there know the feelings but in the end I let go and my life turned for the better I to had two kids with my looks invested in the woman.
Nothing will ever change that they are my children and they share their love with me daily as they do with my divorced wife.
