Mirror

Mirror, mirror on the wall.
Confess to me the best off all.
Tell me whom I long to be.
No lies, no fibs.
Fill this empty space between my ribs.

Reveal my most inner insecurities.
Bring them to the surface and let them flow.
Grasp my gaze and don't let go.
Make me see what lies beneath.

It's been buried for years.
Kept hidden from the world.
Not needing anyone to see, me.
She's my secret.

Concealed behind stories and dreams.
She sleeps.
Peacefully she lies, secured.
Twelve sets of bone protecting her.
Keeping her away from hurt and deceit.
She's fragile.

You can see her sometimes.
Smiling as she looks upon what's happening in the present.
Glad to have escaped the past.
Hoping to see a future.
She's my laughter.

Mirror, mirror on the wall.
Help her escape this world.
This rib caged stall.
Release her from this prison within.
Bring her to the surface and let her be.

She's my secret, who needs to be told.
She's fragile, but needs to be strong.
She's my laughter, who needs a face.
She's Me.
