Open up your eyes

by Filledwithjoy   Jun 5, 2010

I cry out for those with no voice
I try and help those with no food or water
or no parents
those overseas in poverty...
I campaign and raise awareness
causing me fury and anger of this injustice..

a bunch of us crying out for those with no voice
united and powerful...
yet we walk past those on our own streets
with no home
with no food
or water
and we are powerless
we are scattered

we think our eyes are open
but we have tunnel vision to those in the stereotypical poverty

but OPEN up your eyes.
really open them up

its not just those without food or water who hurt
its those with the smiling faces
those with money
and those without
its those who ask for money on our streets who we shrug off
who we assume "chose" to be there...

Open up your eyes and realise that hurt and pain is EVERYWHERE
dont walk past it.
open up your eyes and realise you can change a life by holding out a hand...not just to someone overseas, but to someone on OUR street...or even someone who is smiling.
