The Heart Lies

The Heart Lies
Gurbir S. Bhogal

As I awoke, I saw your face.
It was blood red, An awful place.
Tried to clean, But could not erase,
Tragic embrace, Locked in grace.

Such perfection...

I didn't understand, The Truth sheathed,
You in my hands, Asleep I breathed.
I fought and ripped, black stains away,
The lights out, The white day went gray.

In the darkness, my eyes glowed green,
My chest lay torn, Then did I see.
What I had, from my devotion,
Now whole, a drop in the ocean.

Alas, I reached, my honest scheme,
Cherished your love, flowed forth a stream.
Ecstasy it seemed, yet I screamed,
Consumed by, The symbol of dreams.
