From the mirror behind me

by Mr Rhee   Sep 3, 2010

I've looked into the mirror,
and seen the world beyond.
People I've never met,
places I've never seen.

I've looked into my own face,
and seen a soul I didn't
know was even there.
It wasn't there before.

My mouth moves,
but I hear nothing.
My eyes question,
but I don't know what for.

What is this place
that I have found?
Who is this person
that I see?

I wonder if he thinks
the same of what he sees.
I wonder if his world is better
than the one I'm in.

I look behind me,
and things look different now.
I'm wearing different cloths,
and the colors aren't just right either.

What is this place
I've found myself in?
What has happened to
the world I knew?

There is a tapping
from the mirror behind me.
And there I am, my old self,
looking back from inside.

And it's my world over there,
the one I was in before.
And that's me looking back,
with that pleading look.

I look about this other place,
here beyond the mirror wall.
I think I could get used to it,
if that smell of death wasn't around.
