Lady-Friend

by trippetta TC   Oct 21, 2010

Her life line
Crossed o'er mine
A bathroom tower closest to the sea
Suit & tie exits existed, by the cool green grass at a picnic table sat a family
Inevitable, the refrain
It still reverberates in my brain
Her song "It was New Years Day when I gave it away"
Walking in to the stall with my son, 2 years old
Wanting only to teach tadpole to swim,
Necessities changing, she crept close, telling of hopes slim
She called me lady friend she said "I know I don't belong here
But the cops....(& a huff of exhausted stale breath) they don't care, pointing carelessly to where nearby lay the P.D. amidst the Ocean tranquility
She told of how she surrendered at a price
Grasped at the clutches of sandy star dollars & empty vessel advice
Her star stolen & this sad idea that being a running punchline is the inspiration
When wave after wave beyond crescendo is inspiration
