Yearning

by PebsM   Nov 22, 2010

As I looked at the four corners of the room,

Nostalgic,

I fell at last to emotions long denied.

It came like torrent,

Strong and willful.

Subdued,

I kept on grasping

For that strength

Long gone.

I'm drowning in helplessness;

I was brave,

I was strong.

I smiled and I laughed,

I've put on a brave front;

For you,

Everything,

Anything.

And now,

I falter;

The pretense,

It's choking me.

I'm no more

Than a child,

Lost and confused.

Save me,

I beg.

Take me

Away.

Back,

Back,

To places well loved.

I've dreamed

but woke astray.

    I was strong.
    I smiled and I laughed,
