Absolute

by Beautiful Chaos   Dec 1, 2010

Me and you against the world baby,
Connected internally by silken threads of love,
An instinctual adoration,
Which began before you existed.

Your smile, laugh, nothing more comforting,
Life feels complete in your warmth,
Worth every mountain I had to scale,
Because you were always with me.

Each tear that falls upon your porcelain cheek,
Is like a knife in my heart,
Though I can't always save you,
I will never leave you.

By your side unconditionally,
Mother to child,
None, save death, could keep me from you,
The truest love known.

I just watched Titanic again for the first time in a while and those lines totally reminded me of it. Especially the "You and me against the world baby." Cause they literally were taking on part of the world. Haha

I don't know. This part is very interesting if a little stalkerish. I like it.

Though I can't always save you,
    I will never leave you.

I love these words sooooo much. I think this is what most people crave from love. They want to think that no matter how bad they mess up, the person they love will always stick by them and never leave them. Lovely lovely words. Perhaps my favorite in the whole poem.

Haha. Now I feel stupid. All this time I was thinking it was a romantic love, but it's the love between a mother and a child. This very last stanza makes the whole poem make sense and I love that. It's like a little surprise at the end. :]

    Great job!
