Thoughts

by Clarise   Dec 5, 2010

As we walk down to the lake we sit on a log and talk,
her eyes glimmering with tears,
her clear blue eyes seem to be falling with the tears and making them gray,
her face a mask of pain but so serene,
we look at the water,
she says See the water?,
the water is calm,
I used to be like that,
I stare at her,
Then...,
she throws a rock in the water,
Then I became that,
the water ripples and churns waves,
I say But look, if we stay a while longer it will be calm again,
she stares at me,
her face very grave and sullen,
But the rock is still there, the lake is forever changed, it will never be the same again,
I cannot argue with that,
she is to convinced that nothing will be the same,
the whole time she was talking to me she has cried
not cried but tears falling,
no weeping,
not screaming,
this was a girl brought up to be strong and not to show her emotions,
she would never break down easily,
this was a strong girl.
