Surviving

by Chris   Dec 12, 2010

I'm a survivor, there's no other explanation
I've been shot, stabbed, and blown up
Left for dead by those I loved the most
Promised heaven's greatest treasures
Only to go through every level of hell

I've felt the coldness of isolation
Loving no one and hating everyone
Wishing my suffering would just end
Even going so far as to consider suicide
And yet I managed to survive it all

The fires of anger consumed me entirely
Lashing at others for your betrayal
Wanting to see this world burn to the ground
As I became a danger to myself and others
And yet I managed to survive it all

I would give these girls my heart
Only for them to play their games
Pretending to be my own personal angel
While they schemed my downfall
And yet I managed to survive it all

I'm still holding out faith that love exists
That some day a girl will love me for me
Because I will not accept death gracefully
I will not just fade into nothingness again
I choose to go down kicking and screaming

A very enjoyable read about endurance and inner strength, sometimes it can be hard to find and we think it will never come, but as long as we remain, there is hope. Thanks for sharing this very relateable piece of work.
