Ribbons of liquid sunshine

by Poet on the Piano   Dec 30, 2010

Shadowy eyes gaze
over my crown of braids
and hold trailing fabric.
I tremble inside like the
sword striking fresh soil,
even though he whispers
he would catch every
part of me, every thought,
I still feel his relentless
embrace and protection.

He throws his honey robe
over my frightful brow
realizing why we are chased
by the earth's greatest ally,
he reasons that our hearts
are too joined in love,
it angers the elements of time.

I softly sigh and brush my lips
against his hand, holding on
for us to hide along the road.

Doesn't the path end here
I wonder unintentionally,
he grins like his secret
will be such splendor
and draw light on our
ruddy reckless checks.

He leads me to the side
asking to dance at edge,
I curtsy and bow
adorned with smiles,
as if the world could
ever drown such
eminent happiness.
