You And I

by Corey Gentry   Jun 19, 2004

I choose to tell you how I feel
Every night before we sleep
There isn’t any fear in words
Nothing left inside to keep

You understand the longing we share
Because we share it, long into the night
A sigh to express our dreary eyes
And a laugh to verbalize our light shining bright

Little do I sleep anymore
Thinking of you subsides my slumber
You’ve taken my ideas on life and love
And suddenly, I find them asunder

With you, I want to find these pieces
That have been thankfully displaced
We can look back and laugh
At the tribulations we’ve faced

It’s easier to understand
When you understand each other
We can remain in silent conversation
Then slowly pull up the cover

I can hold you near, and touch your face
In my silence, you’ll hear a thousand words
Each one explaining a little more
Of what you and I are headed towards

--Thanks--
