Legacy (Collaboration)

by sibyllene   Jan 23, 2011

Between the pages of now
and forever
lie the ghostly spirits of
what might have been,
what never was,
and all that might yet
come to be.

Fate unknown,
yet I am prepared
to walk through the darkest
of shadows, to drink
from the great fountain of life,
sweet for all its dusky
intoxication.

I'll turn my life over
like pages in a book. I'll
crinkle its edges and peer
into its dark folds. I'll caper
my fingers lightly over
the sharp edges
of its leaves.

And as the end draws near,
last words fall silently still
and the life that was, is no longer,
there will remain the imprint
of my words, stamped crisp into
the pages of my book-
memories
thick with ink and
all the world's shadows.

Awesome job on the collab.....you really can't tell it was written by two people. It is so in tune. Wonderful imagery and word choices. It creates so many emotions in the reader as your words are read.
    Excellent job!

Ohhh what a beautiful poem..this is what happens when two great minds get together:)

This really read like it was written by one hand, so in tune you two have been writing this!

What speaks to me most in this verse is the courage to face the world and to undergo all that life throws your way.

And as the end draws near,
    last words fall silently still
and the life that was, is no longer,
    there will remain the imprint
of my words, stamped crisp into
    the pages of my book-
    memories
    thick with ink and
    all the world's shadows.

    ^^

My favorite stanza..indeed we will never be forgotten, as long as loved ones carry our "book"with them.

Bravo ladies, you two have outdone yourself!

    5/5 Ingrid
ps: I loved the picture too, so mysterieus.

I must fully admit this collab turned out fabulous Miss Sibs. It was indeed a pleasure writing with you.
Even as I read it over again and again ... I myself can't believe how delicate and smooth it flows.
I must say our ink blended well .. lol

Sort of dark, yet positively anticipated... suppose that's perfectly life, isn't it?!
