Foolish- to fall without a parachute

by Poet on the Piano   Feb 15, 2011

I cut the stem of the blind carnation,
tying lace childishly around the petal's breath
watching in awe as it responded, soothingly-

Take me to your soul.

Avoiding sirens and school bells,
I found his adorned locker
and stood across delicately-

Silent is my love, help me say more.

I let him pass without a word,
watching his face drift
and merge with other anonymous figures.

But he will never remain nameless,
for his hope gives me new birth
in a reckless war where I have no
hold over life, I am simply a lost soul.

For one, I absolutely love the title. It fits this high school love scene so well and it is one I "foolishly" dove into as well....looks like without a parachute those relationships seem to hit rock bottom :(

You painted a very nice picture that a lot of young people can relate to, and even older people as they reflect on high school loves.
Its amazing in the moment and sad when it doesn't last....I enjoyed this piece :)
